HARRISON TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Two people have been arrested for allegedly trying to steal copper piping from a basement.

It happened just before noon Tuesday in the 8800 block of Lawrenceburg Road in Harrison Township.

Police say Brandon Lemmel, 24, of West Harrison, Ind., and Crystal Hopper, 23, of Lawrenceburg, Ind. parked their vehicle in the rear of the residence and began to steal copper piping from the basement. The son-in-law of the owner, who lives next door, observed the suspects and notified police.

Police responded and noticed one of the suspects driving off in a black Chevy Blazer. The vehicle was stopped and Lemmel was taken into custody. Hopper fled on foot and was arrested a short time later.

Both are charged with one count of burglary.
