Posted: Updated:

BATAVIA, OH (FOX19) - The Clermont County General Health District will begin holding vaccination clinits at county schools this week to administer the first of two H1N1 shots.

"We have 5,000 doses of the vaccine to administer at county schools this week," said Clermont General Health District Commissioner Marty Lambert. "Younger siblings of children attending the schools where the clinics are held can also obtain the vaccines.  Check with your school to determine the location and hours of the vaccination clinics."

The shots are voluntary, and not open to the general public.

"Children 10 and under will receive two doses of the vaccine, about a month apart," said Lambert. "Older children and adults need only one dose."

Student vaccination clinics will be held this week at Bethel Tate Middle School (for Bick, Ebon C. Hill, and Bethel Tate Middle schools), Clermont Northeastern High School (for CNE Elementary and St. Louis schools), Goshen Middle School (for Spaulding and Marr/Cook schools), Pattison Elementary (for Pattison and Seipelt schools), McCormick Elementary (for McCormick and Smith schools), Meadowview Elementary (for Meadowview and Mulberry schools), Batavia High School (for high school and Batavia Elementary), and Batavia Middle school.

One thousand doses of the H1N1 vaccine have been distributed to healthcare and high risk emergency personnel in the county.  Additional school clinics will be scheduled as the vaccine becomes available.
