Cincinnati man charged with killing SC bikers in NC park

Posted: Updated:

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Officials have charged an Ohio man with hitting and killing two South Carolina motorcyclists in a wreck in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park last year.

The U.S. Attorney in Asheville, Edward Ryan, said Tuesday that 74-year-old Clyde Grubbs of Cincinnati was charged last month with misdemeanor death by vehicle and driving left of center.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reported that Grubbs is accused of killing 55-year-old motorcyclists Charles Earl Bolt and Diane K. Bolt of Belton, S.C., in August.

Grubbs will appear in U.S. District Court in Asheville on December 14. He faces up to six months in prison if he's convicted.
