CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -- A lawsuit was filed Thursday on behalf of two women who say that an over-the-counter nasal gel caused them to lose their sense of smell and taste.
The women are represented by attorney Stan Chesley, who filed the suit Thursday against Matrixx Initiatives, the manufacturers of Zicam Cole Remedy Nasal Gel.
They say for years Matrixx knew of complaints of loss a smell, but failed to alert costumers.
On June 16 of last year, the FDA issued a warning advising consumers to "stop using and discard" three Zicam products including the Zicam Cold Remedy Spray Gel, because the association with the loss sense of smell.
After the warning was issued, the company voluntarily recalled the nasal gel along with several other Zicam products.
There is no word on the amount of damages the two women are seeking.
