Sports Minute: Here is the latest Ohio sports news from The Associated Press
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Cleveland Indians beat the Minnesota Twins 8-2 last night. Carlos Santana homered among his season high-tying four hits and Danny Salazar won in his first start in more than two months. Cleveland has won four out of six games since the All-Star break.
MILWAUKEE (AP) - The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Cincinnati Reds 4-3 last night. Jonathan Lucroy homered leading off the bottom of the ninth for the Brewers. Francisco Rodriguez pitched the ninth to earn the win. Cincinnati brought in LeCure to pitch the ninth. His outing lasted just three pitches as Lucroy hit a 1-1 offering for a line drive homer inside the left field foul pole. The Reds are 0-5 since the All-Star break.
MILWAUKEE (AP) - Reds shortstop Zack Cozart left last night's game against the Brewers after being hit in the right hand by a pitch while attempting to bunt. X-rays on the first two fingers of his hand have come back negative. The team says he's day-to-day.
MILWAUKEE (AP) - The Reds placed right-handed reliever Logan Ondrusek on the 15-day disabled list with a strained shoulder before last night's game against the Brewers. The move is retroactive to July 13th. Ondrusek is 3-1 with an ERA of 4.31 in 29 games this season. Right-hander Curtis Partch was recalled from Triple-A Louisville.
CINCINNATI (AP) - The Cincinnati Bengals expect cornerback Leon Hall to be ready for the start of training camp and defensive tackle Geno Atkins to join them for full workouts sometime later. Hall and Atkins are their two biggest questions heading into camp. Both are starters who mean a lot to a defense that ranked third in the NFL last season.
CLEVELAND (AP) - The Cleveland Cavaliers have sent guard Carrick Felix to Utah for three players with non-guaranteed contracts. The Cavs sent Felix, a second-round pick in 2015, and $1 million to the Jazz for guard John Lucas III and forwards Malcolm Thomas and Erik Murphy. The moves give the Cavs more assets to go after Kevin Love.
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) - One of the Bowling Green State University football team's leading scorers has been charged with attempted rape in northwestern Ohio. Court records show 19-year-old William Houston, of Dublin, was arraigned this week in Bowling Green Municipal Court and later released on bail. Records show no attorney for the sophomore running back.
