DRY RIDGE, KY (FOX19) -

All lanes are now open on southbound I-75 after several massive pileups on Monday afternoon.

The first incident occurred around 11 a.m. just south of the 156 mile marker in Dry Ridge when two separate crashes - one involving eight vehicles and the other involving 16 vehicles - caused a big pileup. The second collision involved a camper and two semi trucks.

Sergeant Chad Mills with Kentucky State Police tells FOX19 that five victims were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

One driver involved in the wreck cites white out conditions on the highway as a main cause for the pile-up. Police say at that time, visibility dropped to less than a quarter mile.

Another crash involving 41 vehicles occurred at just before 12:30 p.m. at milemarker 167, just north of Crittenden.

Kenton County Police say eight people were injured, with six being transported to local hospitals.

Twenty-three vehicles had to be towed from the scene. The interstate reopened at about 2:45 p.m.
