(FOX19) - There is a new bill working its way through the U.S. House of Representatives.
This bill would grant government authorities the power to revoke the citizenship of anyone declared a terrorist or believed to be working against the United States.
The bill is H.R. 3166, also known as the Enemy Expatriation Act.
It is sponsored by Republican Congressman Charles Dent of Pennsylvania and Congressman Jason Altmire a Democrat, also from Pennsylvania.
A companion bill was introduced in the U.S. Senate by Senator Joe Lieberman and Senator Scott Brown.
So what exactly does the EEA do? It adds "engaging in or supporting hostilities against the United States to the list of acts for which United States nationals would lose their nationality."
Congressman Dent claims that there is a specific reason why this new law is needed.
Ben has the Reality Check you won't see anywhere else.
