The assault case involving Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga was in court on Friday.

Maualuga's attorney entered a not guilty plea on his behalf during an arraignment Friday afternoon.

Maualuga was cited for misdemeanor assault for punching the manager of the Luxe bar in downtown Cincinnati earlier this month.

Maualuga and the Bengals have not commented on the charge, which could bring a fine or suspension from the NFL.

He was arrested in January of 2010 for drunk driving and careless driving in Kenton County after he hit a parking meter and two parked cars. He pleaded guilty and was given a 90-day license suspension and a two-year probation.

As a repeat offender, he could be suspended by the NFL for part of next season.
