MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) -
A Middletown man has been arrested and charged with 23 crimes on Saturday.
Authorities say they recognized the driver of a pickup truck as Terry Smith and tried to stop the vehicle. Smith fled and led police on a chase into Franklin then tried to ram into the police cruisers.
Police say Smith caused a crash involving three cars at Coles Road and Dixie Highway. Smith kept driving southbound on Dixie Highway but crashed into a utility pole on Towne Blvd. where he was arrested.
Smith is charged with 23 crimes including fleeing the scene of an accident and driving under suspensions. He has two warrants for eluding police and five traffic warrants. Franklin Police also charge Smith with felonious assault.
Ohio State Patrol investigated the crash and additional charges are pending.
