ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
A mural that has caused controversy in recent months has been painted over after a southeast Atlanta neighborhood association voted to remove it.
The mural was prominently displayed near the corner of McDonough Boulevard and Sawtell Avenue and depicted a naked woman.
By a count of 13-9, residents in the Chosewood Park Neighborhood Association voted to make their recommendation to the city for removal of the work of art, which was commissioned by the group Living Walls. The artist is from Spain.
"If your cameras were to look at that art right now, it would have to censor out parts of those images," said Gerard Sanders, who opposes the mural. "That same sensibility needs to be extended to normal passers-by. And the way it's displayed right now, it just does not do that."
