HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) -
An 18-year-old Butler County man has been found guilty in the fatal stabbing of his step-father.
A Butler County jury convicted Michael Ray, 18, of murder in the death of Bryan Schmidt Sr., 36.
Ray told the jury he killed Schmidt in self-defense. Ray's mother testified that her husband was attacking her son.
Ray said he and his stepfather argued over Ray drinking alcohol while the rest of the family was away. Ray said he panicked and grabbed the knife and stabbed his stepfather after Schmidt punched him several times.
The stabbing occurred on Father's Day 2012 in the 2800 block of Weeping Willow Court.
Ray was give the automatic 15-years to life sentence.
