(FOX19) -
Temperatures are doing what we thought they would do.
As of 1PM most of the FOX19 viewing area had fallen into the low half of the 40s. To the southeast of the metro (Maysville, Manchester, West Union etc.) area temperatures will still in the low 50s but by mid evening the chill will descend over the entire Tri-State.
Sandy is going to be a BIG problem for a large part of the east. This weekend beach erosion, rip currents, large waves with torrential rain bands will pound all beach areas from Florida to Virginia. The work week will start with a big weather problem as Sandy turns and heads for the densely populated northeast corridor. Hurricane force winds will move on shore Tuesday then Sandy will quickly weaken but stay strong enough to be a big disruption to travel and large areas will experience power outages.
Around here the big effect will be cold blustery weather. Showers activity could make it here on the margin of Sandy's remnants and if it is at the right time of day we could see a little wet snow mixed in. That is very iffy at this point.
If you have travel plans from Washington D.C. northward through mid week you may have to modify your itinerary.
