CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
The Red Cross has deployed more than 1,300 disaster workers to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Locally, 19 volunteers from the Greater Cincinnati-Dayton Region have be sent to Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and West Virginia to be ready to assist with sheltering, distribution, mobile feeding, recovery and clean up supplies.
"Sandy is a large and dangerous storm, and will affect large parts of the eastern part of the country for the next few days," said Fran O'Shaughnessy, Regional Director of Emergency Services. An alert has even been issued for areas in Ohio to take precautions. Situations like these remind us of how important it is to be prepared at all times! We urge people to remain in a safe place until it passes, and to listen to instructions from local officials."
Sandy is expected to bring a rain/snow mix to the Tri-State.
