MIAMI TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash on NB I-275 at State Route 28 that claimed the life of one man.

Troopers say Jason Bell, 37, hit a deer with his car around 8:00 PM Monday and had to leave the disabled car in the center lane of the highway. A short time later, William Powers, 36, was driving a Hummer and tried to swerve to miss the car. He ended up slamming into Bell's car and the Hummer overturned, ejecting Powers from the vehicle.

Powers died at the scene. His 7-year-old son was taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No one in Bell's car was injured.

Seat belts and child safety seats were used by everyone except Powers, according to troopers.
