MADISONVILLE, OH (FOX19) -
Madisonville unveiled its plan for revitalization on Tuesday.
The citizen-led community plan took twelve months to devise, but leaders say the 'exciting and ambitious quality-of-life' plan will impact areas like education, health, real estate, the arts, beautification and community engagement.
More than $20 million in development investment is anticipated.
In the coming decade, residents can expect a new pedestrian-friendly business district at Madison Road and Whetsel Avenue, as well as support for other small businesses and housing choices.
In addition, the neighborhood will benefit from a new and expanded health center, a developed Little Duck Creek trail, a reopened Madisonville Arts & Cultural Center as well as a year-round market.
The funding for developments in the coming years will all come from local business leaders, grants, donations and philanthropists.
