The Cincinnati Reds have confirmed that the team and pitcher Jonathan Broxton have agreed to a three year deal.
The deal is reportedly worth $21 million and has a club option for 2016.
The Reds got Broxton in a trade with Kansas City last July to solidify their bullpen. He became a free agent after going 3-3 with a 2.82 ERA and four saves in six chances for Cincinnati. Broxton had 23 saves in 27 chances with Kansas City.
By signing Broxton, the Reds could move left-hander Aroldis Chapman into a starter's role. He took over as the closer after Ryan Madson tore up his pitching elbow.
