Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana all ranked poorly in America's Health Rankings, released Tuesday.
Ohio was 35th, Indiana was 41st and Kentucky was 44th in the study, which looks at obesity, sedentary habits, smoking rates, public health funding and air pollution.
The report is published by the United Health Foundation, American Public Health Association and Partnership for Prevention.
Vermont was found to be the healthiest state, with Mississippi and Louisiana tied for last place.
