BUTLER COUNTY, OH (FOX19) -

Miami U gets a million bucks closer to a new baseball facilities building.

The Hayden Family Foundation has established the lead gift of $1 million toward the construction of the Baseball Legacy Project at Miami University.

The Hayden family will match all new money raised for the project, up to $1 million, gifted by alumni and friends.

The project, estimated to cost $2.4 million, will add a baseball facilities building to McKie Field at Hayden Park.

When completed, the building will be 10,000 square-feet on two levels.

Its exterior will meld seamlessly into the rest of the complex, while its interior will include upgraded locker room facilities and coaches' offices, as well as training and equipment rooms.

The highlight will be a museum-quality reception area that will house the rich baseball tradition of both Miami and the region.

Construction of the Baseball Legacy Project is expected to begin after the 2013 season, with completion anticipated in 2014.
