COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) -

A teenager received probation on Thursday for her role in a 2009 murder.

A judge sentenced Emily Ball, now 18, to six to 12 months at a residential treatment center in Lexington. She was being held in juvenile detention.

Ball was 14 when she was originally charged with murder, kidnapping and tampering with physical evidence in the death of 17-year-old Travis White. White was lured to a house on Madison Avenue in Covington where police say he was beaten and stabbed to death by a group of people in March of 2009.

At the age of 16, Ball pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of conspiracy to commit assault and was sentenced to serve 15 years.

She could have been sent to an adult prison or back to juvenile detention.
