The Carrollton County Sheriff's Department say they've caught a real life Grinch.
Drake Meyer, 21, was arrested on Christmas Eve after items discovered at his home connected him to six burglaries throughout the City of Carrollton during the month of December.
Meyer was questioned after police saw him walking near the site of a burglary early Christmas Eve.
Police say they found items reported stolen during the string of burglaries inside of Meyer's home.
After the items were found, police say Meyer tried to run away and they had to taze him.
Some of the items taken during the burglaries were a .25 automatic pistol, jewelry and gold, knives, a Peavey guitar, Bose speakers and clothing.
"A rash of 15 burglaries in two weeks became a priority for us to investigate," said Carrollton Police Chief Michael Willhoite. "This person was stealing Christmas presents that were intended for children in addition to personal belongings and heirlooms of our citizens. We are happy to have solved several of these burglaries and are continuing to investigate and link Meyer and any other suspects to the burglaries."
Meyer has been charged with one count of burglary first degree; four counts of burglary second degree; three counts of receiving stolen property under $10,000; one count receiving stolen property under $500; possession of controlled substance first degree second offense; possession of drug paraphernalia; fleeing or evading police first degree; resisting arrest; and criminal mischief third degree.
He was lodged in the Carroll County Detention Center.
The other 9 burglaries remain unsolved. Call police if you have any information.
