CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
Several community members protested in front of City Hall on Wednesday, in an effort to save their local YMCA.
The operating hours of the Melrose YMCA branch in Walnut Hills have been cut in half. The new hours are 5 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday.
In addition, the facility is now closed to members on the weekends.
Branch members said the shorter hours will make visiting the YMCA more difficult. They also believe the reduction of operating hours could lead to officials closing the facility for good.
However, Cincinnati YMCA officials said the Melrose YMCA schedule changes are needed. The organization is currently working to close a $300,000 budget deficit.
