COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) -
One person was taken to the hospital after a house fire in Covington on Friday morning.
Flames broke out around 5:30 a.m. at a home in the 400 block of East 15th Street, near Maryland Avenue.
A resident of the home escaped and ran to a neighbor's house to get help. The man suffered burns to his arms and hands and was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center. His name and condition have not yet been released.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found flames coming from the roof and windows. Neighboring homes were evacuated as a precaution in case the fire spread.
One was fire was contained, firefighters remained on the scene looking for hotspots.
The cause of the blaze is unknown. Fire crews say the home is a total loss.
