ANDERSON TWP, OH (FOX19) -

Crews are investigating after a fire damaged an Anderson Township home on Friday afternoon.

Anderson Township Fire and Rescue units were dispatched to 7867B Anchor Road for a report of a possible structure fire.  Initial conditions included heavy smoke in the area, and smoke and fire showing from the structure.

Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke coming from all four sides of the structure and fire coming from the front and side.

The initial report had been of someone trapped and responders were able to confirm everyone out of the structure when they arrived.

The resident reported he had evacuated everyone from the home and made an attempt with a garden hose to extinguish the fire which was unsuccessful.

Crews found significant fire and structural damage that prevented initial entry to the home and exterior operations were performed.

Due to heavy fire load and unstable structural conditions, it took an extended time period to get the fire under control, and several hours to control all the hot spots.

Damage to the structure and contents is estimated at $35,000.00 at this time but that number may escalate. Heavy snow and cold conditions were present during fire operations.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

The incident is still under investigation. FOX19 will continue to update the story as more information becomes available.
