COVINGTON, KENTUCKY (FOX19) -

The City of Covington has appointed a new finance director. Lisa A Goetz was approved by City Commission on Tuesday.

The appointment of Goetz comes nearly four months after Covington City Commissioners voted unanimously to fire Robert 'Bob' Due in August. Due has recently pleaded not guilty to 15 counts against him, after being accused of forging documents and stealing money form the city for 11 years.

Goetz previously worked as Comptroller at Legal Aid of the Bluegrass (LABG), a legal services corporation based in Covington, since 2001.

Goetz's professional experience in government accounting, both auditing and public sector capacities, are seen as valuable to her new role by both the City and the City's Audit Committee.

Before working for the LABG, Goetz was employed with Arthur Andersen Public Accountants as a Staff Auditor and Tax Professional for public and private corporations and later for Von Lehman and Company as an Audit Supervisor, conducting audits of cities and counties in Northern Kentucky.

The City received more than 100 applications for the Finance Director position. An Interview Committee consisting of representatives of the City's recently appointed Task Force to Restore Public Confidence, City Audit Committee, Linda Chapman, Chief Financial Officer for the City of Florence, City Manager, both Assistant City Managers, and Human Resources Director Jo Ann Simpson interviewed more than a dozen candidates.
