After years of legal battles with Western & Southern Financial, the Anna Louise Inn will break ground on its new $14 million project in Mount Auburn.

For more than 100 years, the Anna Louise Inn has served single women in the Cincinnati area by providing affordable housing, early childhood education, and the Off the Streets program.

The groundbreaking is bittersweet. There was a fight to stay at the present location downtown because of its historical significance, but the new facility will provide larger living space and amenities that would not been possible with renovations.

Cincinnati Union Bethel runs the facility and came to a $4 million agreement with Western & Southern Financial. The financial group plans on turning the original Anna Louise Inn into a boutique hotel to continue the development of downtown.

The new facility will be four stories, with 85 studio apartments, Off the Streets dormitory units, community space, and the Cincinnati Union Bethel offices.

The project is expected to be compete by spring of 2015.
