CLEVES, OH (FOX19) -

The Three Rivers Educational Campus was on lockdown and then evacuated Thursday morning.

A student found a bullet in a Taylor High School bathroom that initiated the lockdown and a call to police, Three Rivers Local Schools said.

Then immediately following, a heat sensor near the kitchen sounded a fire alarm. Officials evacuated the campus and firefighters were summoned.

The campus houses students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade in one building. The average attendance is approximately 1,800 students.

To get students out the cold weather, elementary students were taken to a building that's about a block away. Secondary students walked to a bus garage in the back of campus. The students sat on buses that were turned on.

Authorities inspected the campus and no fire or threat was found.

District spokeswoman Kate Fenton said the district doesn't know why the bullet was in the bathroom. She said the student reported the finding to a teacher and who then called a principal. The principal confirmed it was a bullet and called police. Police responded with canine units.

"Our students' safety is our No. 1 concern," Head Principal Tom Bailey said. "We are happy there was no threat or fire and our students are OK."

A call to Cleves Police wasn't immediately returned.

Dispatchers were contacted at about 10:19 a.m.
