Is the economy slowing in Northern Kentucky?

The Northern Kentucky Tri-County Economic Development Corp. announced its 2013 economic impact report on Tuesday, and the numbers revealed the impact that Northern Kentucky's economy has had on Greater Cincinnati.

The numbers seem to show that while Northern Kentucky's economy is still strong, it is not growing at the same rate as in the past.

For example, the Northern Kentucky economy had a $197 million impact on the Cincinnati metropolitan area last year, and that's down 45 percent from 2012's $437 million.

The number of jobs created overall in Boone, Campbell and Kenton counties in 2013 was also down by 39 percent compared to 2012.

Last year, 2,282 jobs were created. In 2012, the figure was 3,774.

In 2013, 21 industries pledged to do business in Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties. That's down slightly from 24 in 2012.

Northern Kentucky Tri-ED announced the 2013 numbers during an event Tuesday in Erlanger. They also honored the 21 businesses bringing millions to Northern Kentucky.
