Jacki Jing to emcee St. Vincent de Paul run for the needy

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

More than 250 participants from both sides of the river are expected to run and walk with FOX19 to bring hope to the front line of poverty.

St. Vincent de Paul Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky are collaborating to bring Ohio and Northern Kentucky together for the first St. Vincent de Paul 5K Run/Walk on March 29, 2014 at Sawyer Point.

Sponsored by FOX19 and U.S. Bank, all proceeds from the event support St. Vincent de Paul programs aimed at providing assistance to the needy. St. Vincent de Paul will also be collecting non-perishable food and clothing donations on the day of the race to help neighbors in need.

FOX19's Jacki Jing will emcee the event while Archbishop Dennis Schnurr of Cincinnati will offer a blessing before the race begins.

The 5K Run/Walk will start and end at the Cincinnatus statue at Sawyer Point. Runners and walkers will travel across the Purple People Bridge into Kentucky and return to Sawyer Point. The event will also feature a Kids' Fun Run for children 12 and under. Awards will be given in a variety of categories.

The 5K begins with registration at 8:00 a.m. The run/walk starts at 9:00 a.m. and the Kids Fun Run begins at 10:30 a.m.

Refreshments and music will be offered after the race. Registration is $30 for adults, $20 for students, $18 per runner for teams of five or more and $10 for the Kids' Fun Run.
