BATAVIA, OH (FOX19) -

A Clermont County Common Pleas Court judge on Wednesday sentenced a Union Township man to 22 years in prison for a March 2013 aggravated robbery in Union Township.

Keith Michael Fields, 19, was indicted last September on two counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of felonious assault. A jury earlier this month convicted him of all charges.

Prosecutors say Fields and Britton Armstrong, 19, were looking for a home to burglarize in the Rohling Oaks Drive area in Union Township. A man was walking his dog in the same area and the dog became frightened.

Armstrong, wielding a bat, approached the man from behind while Fields approached the man with a shotgun from the front. Fields demanded that the man hand over money. The man said he didn't have any on him. Armstrong then took out the man's legs with a bat.

Fields came toward the man with the gun, the man fought to keep the gun away from him and Fields shot the man in his left thigh area.

Judge Richard Ferenc sentenced Fields to eight years each for aggravated robbery and felonious assault. He received two 3-year gun specification sentences  for a total of 22 years.

The sentence will run consecutive to a 12-year sentence Fields is serving on separate burglary convictions for a total of 34 years.

Armstrong is serving 28 years for his role in the March 29, 2013 incident.
