CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Cincinnati is one of eight cities vying to host the 2016 Republican National Convention.

The other cities are Cleveland, Columbus, Denver, Dallas, Kansas City, Las Vegas and Phoenix.

Contending cities had until midnight to submit their bids to host the convention.

The final contending cities will then present their bids to the full site selection committee this Monday in Washington.

Hamilton County Commissioner Greg Hartman tweeted yesterday that Cincinnati's proposal is in and that his team will be headed to Washington on Monday to make the pitch.

Local Republican leaders attended an "interested cities" day in Washington this month where they promoted Cincinnati's large venues and 26,000 hotel rooms.

Millions of dollars could flow in to the city if Cincinnati is picked as host. Tampa, the last RNC host city, saw an economic impact of $404 million after the convention, according to USA Today.

Cleveland and Columbus have also submitted bids to host the GOP convention.

After hearing the proposals and traveling to finalist cities, the convention site selection committee is expected to vote on the final location in late summer 2014.
