#BostonStrong: 2014 Boston Marathon underway

A little more than a year after the Boston Marathon bombing, runners started filtering in Monday morning as the sun rose over the center of Hopkinton, where the race starts.

About 36,000 runners have registered for the race - the second-largest field in its history. More than the 27,000 normally participate. A million people are expected to line the route, doubling the number from last year.

The most obvious change for the 118th edition of the world's oldest annual marathon was the heavy security presence. State and local police officers were everywhere, even on the rooftops of some buildings.

You can stream the race live at baa.org.

Happy 88th birthday to Queen Elizabeth II

A new portrait of Queen Elizabeth II was released in honor of her 88th birthday.

British photographer David Bailey took the simple black and white portrait at Buckingham Palace, according to the BBC. @BritishMonarchy tweeted the image Sunday.

"She has very kind eyes with a mischievous glint," Bailey said.

The picture is on behalf of the government's GREAT Britain campaign, which aims to promote trade, tourism, investment and education throughout the UK.

On September 10 2015, Queen Elizabeth II will become the longest reigning monarch in British history, overtaking Queen Victoria.

Ohio couple of 70 years dies hours apart

The story of an Ohio couple's love is making its way across social media.

Helen and Kenneth Felumlee, of Nashport, Ohio, held hands at breakfast every morning of their 70 year marriage and died 15 hours apart.

Family tells the Zanesville Times Recorder that Kenneth had his leg amputated 2.5 years ago due to circulation problems. Helen became his main caretaker until she grew too frail to care for him.

Helen died April 12 at age 92. Her 91-year-old husband died the next morning.

The couple eloped in Newport, Ky. on February 20, 1944 and went on to have eight children.

The two hadn't slept apart in 70 years.

Woman's dog and TV stolen during first date

A Yorkshire Terrier and flat screen television have been safely returned to a New Jersey woman after she reported them stolen on a first date.

The woman told police she went on a date last week with a man she knows only by the name of "Joel," who she met on a dating website.

Joel was at her house and she became occupied in another room. When she re-entered the room, Joel was gone along with her dog named Violet and her flat screen TV valued at $3,000.

Early Saturday morning, the woman found the dog tied by its leash to the television and left in her front yard. Police said they know the man's identity and may press charges.
