Facing several challengers in Tuesday's primary election, U.S. Mitch McConnell on Friday visited Northern Kentucky.

McConnell, R-Louisville, addressed a special luncheon of the Covington Business Council at the Madison Events Center. He provided an update from Washington with topics including the Affordable Care Act and the economy. He then took questions from the audience.

McConnell's main Republican opponent in Tuesday's primary -- Matt Bevin -- spent the day campaigning all over Kentucky.

The Louisville businessman insists he will defeat McConnell, despite the most recent polls showing him trailing by 32 percentage points.

Polls are open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday in Kentucky.

Paul, Portman, Wenstrup in College Hill

Three other local Republican politicians are in the area and at one point Friday afternoon, they were all together.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Bowling Green, Sen. Rob Portman, R-Terrace Park and Rep. Brad Wenstrup, R-Columbia Tusculum, attended school choice roundtable event at Carpe Diem Aiken Campus in College Hill.

Paul said education is a top priority for GOP.

FOX19's Tricia Macke sat down with Paul earlier Friday to get more of a sense of the man and not just the politician.

"Another Side Of" Rand Paul is Tuesday on "The FOX19 Ten O'Clock News."
