MT. BLANCHARD, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The fate of a Riverdale teacher accused of getting too physical with a kindergarten student is now in the hands of the Mt. Blanchard Prosecutor.

The Mt. Blanchard municipal prosecutor works out of a private law office. An employee of that office confirmed the office has had the case since last week.

No charges have been filed, but employees say the law firm handles misdemeanor cases.

Toledo News Now first showed video of the incident last week. Surveillance video showed a teacher grabbing a young boy by the shirt, then lifting him up by the head after he came out of the bathroom.

The teacher was later identified as Barb Williams. Williams was suspended without pay by the district for 10 days after the video aired on WTOL and FOX Toledo.

The boy's parents are upset with the district's reaction to the incident, and say the suspension does not go far enough.

"A ten day suspension is a slap on the hand and pretty much letting every teacher out there believe that this is okay," Anthony and Autumn Nelson said in a statement Friday, May 16.

The Nelsons say they hope charges will be filed against Williams soon.
