LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The grand re-opening of Kentucky Kingdom has some screaming for joy.
"I love it, I love it, I love it!" exclaimed one fan, Shelby Winkle.
Five years ago, Six Flags closed the park. Now new developers have poured in more than 40 million dollars adding new thrills, like the Deep Water Dive. Brave souls plunge down the tallest body slide in North America.
"It says 3, 2,1 and then launch and then the floor just drops out from underneath you," one man said seconds after he got off the slide.
For the little ones, there's the new Wave Lagoon and 12 new rides. Some lined up for tickets hours before the gates opened.
"It's been a long time since Kentucky Kingdom has been in operation and I have missed this place to no end," Courtney Shephard said.
For those who loved the park back then, some of the classics are back. Thunder Run is once again voted one of top 10 wooden roller coasters in the country.
Mile High Falls is back too, soaking those passing by every chance it gets.
"It's awesome. It's awesome," Winkle said.
About 100,000 season passes have already sold. Investors taking the plunge, hoping their profits will soar.
"How do we measure that? I think today we measure that in smiles," park spokesperson John Mulcahy said.
There are 54 rides total now with the promise of two roller coasters to be added in the next two years.
