CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden has retracted its request
to be included in a proposed cultural arts tax levy.
The zoo reportedly asked on Monday to be included in the
levy that would also help fund renovations to Union Terminal and Music Hall,
but cited "bad timing" when withdrawing that request one day later.
Representatives from the Cincinnati Zoo confirmed to FOX19 they
have asked not to be considered in the proposed levy.
Hamilton County commissioners met Monday afternoon to discuss what could potentially raise hundreds of millions of dollars with a 0.25 cent tax increase.
During the meeting commissioners stressed the strain it could place on taxpayers.
Levy supporters are pushing for the issue to be added to the November ballot.
