City and county look to merge dispatch

(FOX19) -

Hamilton County and the city of Cincinnati are implementing a new way to increase public security.

Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system allows dispatchers at both the Cincinnati Emergency Communications Center and the Hamilton County Communication Center to see all available public safety resources in both the county and city.

Officials say CAD will reduce response times to large scale incidents and to those incidents that occurs along jurisdictional boarders.

The system is expected to cost $2.9 million. A grant will pay for &950,000 and the rest will be split amongst the city and county, but the city will have a higher share because additional interfaces are required.

Follow FOX19 NOW's Lindsey Wopschall as she discusses with county officials as to why they feel this is a necessary entity.
